Bullet Found On School Grounds In Hudson Valley, Causes Lockdown

Authorities are investigating after a bullet was found outside a middle school in the Hudson Valley, prompting the building to enter into a lockdown.

The incident happened in Putnam County on Thursday, Feb. 8, when a single bullet was found in a grassy area outside George Fischer Middle School in Carmel just before noon, according to Captain Michael Grossi of the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

The discovery prompted the school to go into lockdown for 45 minutes as authorities searched the building and grounds. 

The investigation into the discovery is still ongoing, Grossi said.
